Getting to Buzios by land
▪ By car

Coming from Rio de Janeiro, about 2 hours trip. After crossing Rio-Niterói bridge turn left to Rio Bonito ´s way. After Rio Bonito, turn right through Via Lagos in Araruama/Cabo Frio (called Região dos Lagos) way. When Via Lagos ends, continue 5 km to Ipiranga gas station, that is in the entrance of São Pedro da Aldeia (rotunda). Get RJ-106 in Macaé/Búzios way. After 14 km (inmediatelly after "Até que Enfim" gas station), turn right (another rotunda) and continue for about 10 minutes to Pórtico de Búzios (entrance of the city).

Attention:
Coming from the north of Rio State: if you come through BR-101, get the entrance to Rio das Ostras and continue for 56 km to Búzios.
Coming from Belo Horizonte: pass through Petrópolis, after going down the sierra get Rio-Teresópolis to Magé city and continue in Manilha and Rio Bonito (BR 101) way and continue the instuctions as coming from Rio de Janeiro.

Via lagos (Rio/Búzios road)
The interval of Via Lagos between Rio Bonito and S. Pedro de Aldeia, inaugurated by the end of 1998, is controlled by Via Lagos Company, beyond finishing with the constant traffic in summer it avoids the electronic bumps of the RJ-106 road, in Araruama and Iguaba, the time trip from Rio de Janeiro to Búzios reduced in about 30 min. With Via Lagos, over 80% of the trip Rio de Janeiro to Búzios, now offer doubble roads, new ones and with high speed for drivers, and the last part of the road with simple but good ways.
Be carefull with fines.
During the way from Rio to Buzios, there are at least 5 electronic radars that you should have in mind, there are two between Manilha/Rio Bonito, the third one is at the end of Via Lagos Highway, just before arriving to São Pedro da Aldeia. Finally, the other two are almost arriving to Buzios.

You have two tolls to Buzios, one in Ponte Rio-Niterói (bridge):
R$ 2,90, pay only when you go,
The other is in Via Lagos (RJ-124):
During the week R$ 6,40 and R$ 9,80 wek-end, pay going and returning.

▪ The transfers Rio/Buzios/Rio
Most of the pousadas and hotels in Buzios have transfer service to Búzios, from Rio de Janeiro, directly from the airport, bus station or hotel in Rio. The prices change from one pousada to the other and you should be informed in the moment of the reservation. There are basically two categories in transfers to Buzios, the cheep one that is about R$ 70,00 normally bus or vans, and the other US 120,00 that are luxury cars with air conditioning. Consult your pousada for other information.

▪ By Bus

From Rio de Janeiro to Búzios, direct:
Every day from Rodoviária Novo Rio in the company Auto Viação 1001:

  • Out time: 6:30, 9:15, 11:15, 13:15, 15:15, 17:15 e 19:30h.
  • Back time: 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00 e 19:00h.
  • Prices: between R$ 17,00 and R$ 22,00 depending on the bus (with or without air) and on the time. For further information call Auto Viação 1001 Central.

    • Buzios receives many tourists in hollydays and week-ends so we recommend you to buy the ticket before.
    • Buziosturismo recommends always to confirm price and departure time of your ticket.
  • Attention: from the airport to Novo Rio bus station you can take a taxi (about R$ 30,00) or a bus of Auto Viação Real with constant service every day.

From São Paulo to Búzios, direct:
Outs only on Fridays from 21:45 hs returning only on Sundays at 21:30 hs.
Price of the ticket: R$ 45,12, with Auto Viação 1001

Alternative route coming from Rio de Janeiro, through Cabo Frio:
Auto Viação 1001 buses have outs every hour from Rio de Janeiro, Niterói or São Paulo to Buzios and Cabo Frio, from where Auto Viação Salineira (tels.: 22-2645-5454 or 0800-245454) go to Búzios every day every 20 minutes. You can also take a taxi from Cabo Frio to Buzios and pay around R$ 30,00.

Getting to Buzios by air
Buzios Airport

Regular flights: TEAM Airlines offer regular flights to Buzios from Rio de Janeiro every Friday and Sunday in two motor ships for at least 19 people.

Particular flights, not regular: Buzios Airport, Umberto Modiano, works with a 1300m X 30m track, airway lighting, covered by asfalt and supports excecutive ships.

Getting to Buzios by sea
▪ Getting to Buzios with boats and sail boats

Búzios is a peninsula, almost island, and nothing better than arriving by sail boat or motor boat. The Porto Búzios Marine (tel.: 22/2629-1238) offer the sailors a complete marina that is very safe to anchor the boat. For those that need to supply their yatch or boat, a good option is Porto Veleiro (tel.: 22/2623-2470) that is in Armação Beach. Though the Yatch Club of Búzios, that is besides, in Ossos Beach, is reserved only for the members.

The nautical letter of Búzios is number 1504 and the wind in Buzios, blows a media of 18 km/hs. Most cases in northeast quadrant.

▪ Arriving to Búzios in Cruise or Transatlantic
In Buzios are many stops during the summer time from December to March, the stops are generally for one day and the ships are anchored in the center´s pier, depending on the travel script, it´s possible to leave the boat and visit the center of the city. Consult a tourism agency for further information.
