Main job, after the tourism, of the old inhabitants of the peninsula, fishing in Búzios formed a way of learning culture and subsistence. Social works for the association are offered, as the legalization of the boats, register in the cadaster of the fishermen of Búzios in the Agriculture Ministry, Spanish and English lessons, dental service, professional qualifiquation courses, always pointing to the awareness and preservation of the artesanal fishing, showing the importance and the values of the profession. In the colony are promoted every Tuesdays meetings between the fishermen to decide all the problems of the fishing community and the development of new techniques.
For those who come to Búzios to adventure in the waters of the peninsula searching good fish, in the Fishermen´s Colony in Rua das Pedras you can rent a boat to fish or just to go arround the region. At least R$ 30 one hour for visitors having the option to rent a "trainera" and fish besides the fishermen of the city and enjoy the confort. Brazilian, Argentinean, Italian and tourists from all over the world always venerate the caipirinha that is invited on board.

The most important party for the fishermen community is São Pedro, the 29 th of June. The image of N. Sra. de Santana is taken from the little church of the fishing protector to a boat. The fishermen boats are decorated with little coloured flags and go for a procession that lasts all day. In the afternoon the boat that was taking the image leans in the deck and the multitude follows back to the church. As the party happens in vacation time, the city if full of people from all over the world.
